Las Vegas Tipping Guide

  1. Who should I tip, and who can I skip?
  2. How much should I tip?
  3. What are the best ways to tip when I am gambling?
  4. Are there some additional resources, where I can learn more about tipping in Las Vegas?
  1. Who should I tip, and who can I skip?

A lot of people in Las Vegas earn most of their income from our tips. When you are given good service you should expect to reward them with a tip.

  2. How much should I tip?

This depends a lot on the quality of service, but we have provided a chart that can serve as a general guide to how much you should tip groups in Las Vegas.

    Who Amount
    Cocktail Waitress $1.00+ per round
Dealer At least $5 per hour, more if you win, dealer doesn't expect a tip if you are loosing
    Slot Attendant $1.00 - $5.00
Taxi Driver 10-20% more if helpful
Limo Driver 15-30% more if helpful
Maids $1.00 - $2.00 per night, more if room is messy
    Valet $2.00 - $5.00

  3. What are the best ways to tip when I am gambling?

There are two ways to tip when gambling. You can bet for the dealer, typically by placing a bet in front of your bet. If the bet wins, the dealer wins just like you and will take both your bet and the amount won (taken from the house). If you are nervous about doing this feel free to just ask the dealers, they will be happy to help you with the standard procedure on how to tip them. Your other option is more simple, you can just hand them a chip and say, "This is for you". They will take the money and typically have a box at each table for Tips.

  4. Are there some additional resources, where I can learn more about tipping in Las Vegas?

Cocktail Doll provides an excellent and blunt guide on what is recommended and a standard procedure for tipping in Las Vegas.

Insider Las Vegas has also formulated an excellent table on the recommend tip for each group.
